2014年，私はオーストラリア・パースで仮説実験授業「ものとその重さ」を実践しました。公立小学校５年生，サリーのクラスです。結果は大成功でした。

授業の途中2回と最終テストの後１回の計３回の授業に対する感想を書いてもらいました。今回は，子ども達が書いた最後の感想を訳して載せることにします。

• この授業はとても楽しかったし、授業の全てが理解できた。もしも、違う種類の２つのものを合わせるとその体積は、ちょっとだけ少なくなるが（例：２００＋３００≠５００）、重さは、同じであるということが分かったことは、興味深かった。先生に会えないと寂しくなる。いつまでも居て欲しい。また、オーストラリアに帰ってきてね！    A　　ア

• この授業は、楽しかったです。なぜなら、僕たちは、たくさんの実験をすることができたからです。ものの形が変わっても、重さは減ったり増えたりしないということなど、たくさんのことを学びました。例えものを見ることができなくても、そこにはものがないということを意味しない。つまり見えなくても、ものがある場合があるということも私は学びました。先生に会えないと、とても寂しくなります。どうか、ずっと教えていてくださいね。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　G　　イ

• 先生が言ったことは、とても良く理解できたし、この授業は本当に楽しかったです。問題の答えを言うだけではなく、先生が実験をしてくれたのがとても良かったです。先生が新しい観点から学んでいるので、とても楽しかったんだと分かりました。先生に会えないと、わたしは、とても寂しいです！次の年ももどって来て！   H　　ア　      追伸：最後のテストは、とても簡単でしたよ。
• 今回の授業はとっても楽しかったです！それに、とても興味深かったです！ぼくが重さについて知っていたことよりもずっとたくさんのことを学びました。最初、何で重さの勉強をするの？もう物の重さなんて知っているよ、という感じでした。しかし、この勉強を始めると、とても楽しくて、たくさんのことを理解することができました！        I　ア

• ぼくは、この勉強はとても楽しいと思いました。どうしてかというと、あなたは、クラス１２の最高の科学の先生だからです。ぼくが学んだ中で一番良かったのは、塩水を蒸発皿に入れて、下からアルコールランプで熱したら、塩が出てきたことです。ぼくたちに教えてくれてありがとう。あなたたちは、クラス12の最高の科学の先生です。     W　　ア
• このクラスに来てくれて、科学を教えてくれてありがとう！私が学んだことのひとつは、あなたの体重が32ｋｇあるとして、200ｇの食べ物を食べた後、すぐ体重を量ると32.2ｋｇになるということです。さらに、1リットルの豆と1リットルの米を混ぜると、1.97ﾘｯﾄﾙになる（この数字は水とアルコールを混ぜる実験と勘違いをしています。）ということも学びました。来てくれて、ありがとう。そして、あなたがすばらしい時間を過ごしてくださいね！教えることをやめないで！私たちは、寂しいです！バーイ！追伸：あなたのクラスの子ども達によろしく伝えてくださいね！      X　　ア

• These lessons were very enjoyable and I understood all of them. It was interesting to see the different weights of objects and that if you add 2 volumes together (Ex.200+300≠500) it’s a bit less than the starting amount, but the weight always stays the same. I will miss you teachers very much, and I wish you could stay. Come back and visit Australia again!　  A  :A

• I understood most of the things we were taught and found the lessons very enjoyable. I think the story of Professor Santario Santario a very fascinating thing. I learnt a lot of things like just because an object has changed its form doesn’t mean it will weigh less or more and I also learnt just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it’s not there. • I have learned so much from the experiments that we have done like if an object is very small and hardly weighs anything, it needs a special kind of scale to see now much it weighs. I would like to thank Hiro sensei and Shigeko sensei for teaching us science and I also learned if you’re standing on a scale with all your muscles, your weight will still be the same! • Thank you for coming in and teaching us about science! Something I learnt is that if you eat 200g of food and you weigh 32kg you will weigh 32.200kg as soon as you put the food in your mouth. I also learnt that if you have 1 liter of beans and 1 liter of rice and plus them together they will be 1.97 liters. Thank you for coming in and I hope you had a great time! Never stop teaching!
